The Beginning

Well I've finally done it. After much prompting by the kind of people I should listen to (mainly my brother), I have started writing a blog. My reasons for doing so, as far as I can fathom, are twofold.

1. I have the vain hope that someone important will read what I write and see something they like about it, and then help me become a successful journalist.

2. I have the vain hope that someone, important or otherwise, will read what I write and enjoy it. And then tell me that they enjoyed it, which will in turn make me feel good.

I've picked the typical time to begin writing my blog: very late at night. I'm sure everyone can associate with that feeling...it's past midnight and for some reason you get this rush of endorphins, or adrenaline, or something...and you suddenly get the idea into your head that you're going to do something life changing. Then you'll start writing a diary, or the first of a book of poems, or even a novel.
By the following morning you've forgotten it even happened. Then around lunchtime you'll remember; but when you think about all the other pressing issues that have smothered your mind since the previous night it all seems like way too much effort, and the idea that once burned so bright is snuffed out.

Well that's what usually happens. I can't promise it won't be the case with my new blog, but by God I'm going to give this a real shot. I think if I write maybe four or five and get in the flow of it, it will just become a natural part of my routine. A bit like exercise I suppose.

It's gone 1am now and I'm up at 7.15am. This is the end of the beginning.
